222 Offshore Racing
222 Offshore will hit the Australian waters in 2016 having already completed a full racing season in the New Zealand Offshore Powerboat Series. The team ran two specifications of engines while in New Zealand to test both in the newly constructed hull and determine which would be used in Australia.
The 222 Offshore Team is rounded off by:
Head Mechanic: Garry Smith
Transport Logistics: Peter Allan
Transport Coordinator: Scott McMaster
Media & Marketing: Skye Gregory, SUMMYT Sports Marketing
I.T & Data Logistics: Anthony Christopoulos
The Pilot of 222 Offshore is Darren Nicholson, a name that might be better known in the world of sailing. The Nicholson brothers to this day maintain national records and world titles, but Darren prefers to be powered by supercharged V8 engines these days as opposed to wind power. In the short time Darren has been racing Offshore Powerboats, he’s won the Australian title, the historic Venice to Monte Carlo Lion of the Sea race, XCAT races and holds the most wins by any Australian in the UIM Class One Championships in Europe and the Middle East with 2 wins and several podiums.
Throttleman Peter “Muddy” McGrath has won countless National and International titles and still holds a handful of speed records in his home country of New Zealand. Muddy is a respected and professional racer in the world of Offshore Superboats and brings a wealth of talent to the 222 Offshore Team.
