Gibbo’s Auto Electrics Offshore Superboat Race, Lake Macquarie, 2017

The OFFSHORE SUPERBOATS ARE ON LAKE MACQUARIE
AGAIN ON THE 14TH AND 15TH OF OCTOBER !!!

Lake Macquarie is set to host round Four of the 2017 Offshore Superboat Championships (OSC) on the 14th and 15th of October!
this is going to be a huge Free Event for the people of the Hunter Region, with even more racing and the inclusion of the Lake Mac Big Weekend there will be plenty to see and plenty to do , as well as two days of on water racing from the big Offshore boats on the most Spectacular Viewer friendly course in Australia .

This high profile, high-octane sporting event will hit Lake Macquarie on the 14th and 15th of October .

The Lake Macquarie round of the 2017 Offshore Superboat Championships is proudly supported by the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW. Maritime services, Lake Macquarie City Council and all the member of the 200 Club who put in to be sponsors of this event , Gibbos Auto Electrics who won naming rights to the event via Dantias 200 Club (sign up at the event for your chance for next year ), Dantia has been instrumental in getting this event for the Region.
A huge thanks to Marmong Point Marina and Les Binkin who championed this event for the Hunter Region and has made it a reality .

Event organizers said it is great to have Lake Macquarie on the race calendar again this year.
We are glad to be able to bring this Event to the Hunter Region, and bring a huge influx of people and spectators with us , With the event so close to Sydney ,a huge crowd of fans will be travelling up to spend their weekend at Lake Macquarie.
“The town has so much to offer, presenting the perfect arena for fans and spectators alike with a looping course that stretches from Warners Bay to Marmong Point Marina
. You can expect us to create quite a spectacle!”

Marmong Point Marina ,and Dantia have come on board as sponsors for the round as well as, RMS, Wilson Lift And Crown Lands ,without this support and the support from local residents and businesses the Offshore Superboats would not be here this year.

Saturday will see a first for our sport , with a race on Saturday starting at 1pm going for 20 minutes , Then two thirty-minute races on Sunday at 11am and 1pm with the top end of the Lake closing fifteen minutes before each race.

“We’re racing between Warners Bay Shops and Marmong Point Marina so there is some fairly large sweeping turns that will give plenty of great vantage points around the Lake
Each lap is about 6 kilometres and there’ll be up to 10, million dollar plus race boats, not to mention their rigs, which are just as impressive.”

Alternatively, spectators can come down to the pits at Marmong Point Marina from Friday on to meet the drivers and see the boats up close.
Parking for the event has been boosted by the ability to park on all days at Lake Macquarie High School Ovals & Marmong Point Community Hall
The teams are more than happy to answer any questions and share their passion for offshore racing.
We would like to Formally invite all Veterans and Active Duty Personel and Current and Retired Service personnel (Police,Fire , Rescue, SES , RFS ,Marine Rescue, Coastal Patrol Etc) To Come down and enjoy the Spectacle ,as a small thankyou for your service in keeping our community safe.
